About the course
The Certificate in Creative Media will introduce you to the internet and web development, digital animation, video and film production and music technology. It also develops your ability for critical analyses of new media, film and entertainment technologies. In common with other FETAC level 2 awards it also provides you with a solid foundation in oral and written communications and work experience.

Work Placement
The work placement module is an integral component of all FETAC Level 2 awards. The work placement is a planned experiential learning activity involving learning preparation and planning for work, working under direction in a specific vocational area and reviewing and evaluating that work.

The placement will be facilitated in a digital creative media enterprise in the northeast region. In 2005 students were placed within the Dundalk Institute of Technology’s MIDAS creative cluster companies.
Successful candidates will have acquired a broad range of skills in the digital creative media area, which qualifies them to work in the range of digital media industries.

It is intended that access to the program be allowed for learners with different education and work experience.

Entry Requirements
Students entering the programme directly from second level will normally be required to have achieved five passes at ordinary level in the leaving certificate (or equivalent).

Mature students (those over 23 years of age) will not be required to hold a leaving certificate but will be assessed on an individual basis as to the relevance of their highest level of educational qualifications and work experience.

Both O’Fiaich College and Dundalk Institute of Technology welcome applications from mature students and in the case of Dundalk Institute of Technology a full-time access officer is employed to provide learning and other supports to mature students.

Testimonial from Claire Makin
As a mature student returning to college I found that the foundation course was a great stepping stone into doing the degree course. I learned new skills in different areas that made it less daunting to return to full time education. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to enter into the digital media industry.
